The Power of the Pause

Tim Richardson at NSA Georgia
Type A people love to point out you are laser-focused on results. The go, go, go nature of professions like law and finance are like a drug.

Busy does not mean productive.

We all need to pause from time to time. Type A people benefit more than most.

Pausing is where I quiet the noise and clear the clutter in my mind. I get my biggest breakthroughs when I pause.

The power of pausing is counter-intuitive. By taking time to pause, I am more productive and more creative.

I get more done. I do better work for my clients. I stay energized.

Pausing helps me be intentional.

I heard Tim Richardson speak this past week on The Power of the Pause. He advises leaders to pause before doing anything.

I specifically encourage my clients to pause before they say "yes" to a new client. Use the pause and consider how that client will improve your business and practice as a professional.

Pauses can take many forms. What does pausing look like for you?
